Mechanics of Diets

Losing weight can be tough and seems to take forever. There are a lot of diets that promise instant results, but often don't deliver. I have found a system that works for me. The basic component of dieting is watching what you eat. That can only get you so far. You have to complement your diet with exercise. By working out you are burning more calories than you normally would. Eating the right foods with the right diets will help your body adjust and start to burn fat. You want to change your current intake of food to something healthier while simultaneously burning calories. That is an effective diet. Lets take a look at some diets.

Fast Diets

A fast diet that works well is a fruit and vegetable rich diet. This is a healthy diet. After your work out, you are probably hungry. Instead of chowing down on some snack food, try drinking two glasses of water and having a nice fruit or vegetable plate. Be sure to not add any salad dressing to the vegetables. Granted the salad dressing makes the food taste better, it also has a high fat content. I normally have some carrots and an apple after a work out. This not only fills me up, but keeps me healthy.

Easy Diets

An easy diet is what every one is looking for. Depending on how high your self-control is will help determine if a diet is easy or not for you. If you are already eating unhealthy foods, cutting cold turkey isn't the best policy. This will create cravings and you may cave in and just undo weeks of hard work. If you think you may cave in later, try and gradually get off of junk food. For instance, if you have 3 cans of Pepsi a day, try taking it down to 2. After having only 2 cans for about a week, take it down to 1.5 cans. After doing that, go down to 1 can, etc. By gradually decreasing your intake of sugar, you won't shock your body and won't crave it as much later on down the road.

Once you get the rhythm of controlling what you eat and gradually taking out unhealthy foods, you will notice a pattern to your cravings. Use this to your advantage! Schedule your workouts around when your cravings are highest. If you absolutely need chocolate in the morning, go on a run instead! It will take your mind off the craving, be healthy for you, and you will feel better after your work out.

Water

People do not drink enough water. A lot of people mistake thirst for hunger. Next time you are craving a snack, try drinking a glass of water and waiting 15 minutes. Your thirst should be gone as well as your hunger.

Small Snacks

Instead of eating huge snacks, just try having small snacks spread out through your entire day. This will help curve the huge cravings for snacks and by snacking on healthy foods, you increase your vitamin intake.

Dieting

You can have a successful diet!

Having a diet may seem like a daunting task. With a strong support group you can master your diet and lose weight. Depending on how many calories you burn will help determine how fast you lose weight. For working out I would suggest starting out slow to let your body get accustomed to your new life style. The hardest part about starting a diet is, well, getting started. Once the ball gets rolling, it is a lot easier to maintain.
